DANIEL FAST FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY #Day7 (5/10/14

“…And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [One that is better by far and the highest of them all – love]” 1 Corinthians 12:31

There are so many definitions of the word love. Some think that it is that mushy feeling you get when you see someone you have a crush on. The dictionary defines it as an ‘intense feeling of deep affection.’ Others say it is a choice. The Bible says that God is love therefore put another way, love is God. If you are born again you need to demonstrate God in your marriage and to your family. If you are not walking in love then you do not really know God (scary thought).

“He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God IS love.” 1 John 4:8

The verse above that one urges us to truly love one another. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and he who loves is begotten of God and is coming to know and understand God.” 1 John 4:7

If you want to know and understand God better walk in love towards your spouse, your family and fellow man. If you want to mend your marriage and family relations, walk in love. How?

READ 1 Corinthians 13, meditate on it, internalize it.

DECLARE OUT LOUD!

Because I truly love my spouse and my family with the love of God:
I endure long and I am patient and kind to my spouse and my family. I am never envious, nor boiling over with jealousy. I am not boastful or vainglorious and I do not display myself haughtily to them.

I am not conceited, arrogant and inflated with pride. I am not rude or unmannerly to my spouse and family and I do not act unbecomingly. I do not insist on my own rights or my own way because I am not self-seeking. I am not touchy or fretful or resentful. I do not take into account any evil done to me. I pay no attention to a suffered wrong.

I do not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but I rejoice when right and truth prevail in my marriage and family. I bear up under anything and everything that comes in my marriage – for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.

I am ever ready to believe the best of my spouse and my family. My hope is fadeless under all circumstances and I endure everything without weakening.

The love of God in me for my spouse and my family never fails. It never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end. Faith, hope and love abide, but the greatest of these is love. And I choose to walk in love where my marriage and family is concerned. So help me God! In Jesus name, Amen!
